FERROALLOYS


DASTURCO has been a pioneer in the establishment and growth of the ferroalloy industry in India. DASTURCO undertook the first major assignment on a ferroalloy plant in 1955 – about 50 years ago. Since then, Dasturco has undertaken over 70 national and international assignments, ranging from preparation of project studies to complete engineering of ferroalloy plants, for the manufacture of ferromanganese, ferrosilicon, low carbon and high carbon ferrochrome, silicochrome, ferrotungsten, ferrovanadium, elemental phosphorous, silicon carbide, silicon metal etc. In the process, DASTURCO has planned, designed and engineered more ferroalloy plants than any other independent consultancy organisation in the world.



NATURE OF SERVICES OFFERED

Dasturco's range of consultancy services for Ferroalloys projects cover :

  • Preparation of Feasibility Reports/ Detailed Project Reports.

  • Design and engineering services including preparation of specifications.

  • Technical and commercial evaluation of the bids received from equipment suppliers.

  • Assistance to client in preparation of contract documents for placement of orders.

  • Supervision of construction at site.

  • Monitoring of construction by computerised CPM network technique, project management, inspection and expediting of equipment.

  • Assistance in commissioning of plant facilities and supervision of performance and acceptance tests, etc.

Dasturco's range of consultancy services for Ferroalloys projects cover :

  • Design and engineering of 30,000 tons per year (tpy) ferro-manganese plant for Tata Steel at Joda, Orissa, India in 1955.

  • Preparation of Feasibility Studies for 20,000 tpy ferromanganese, 25,000 tpy ferrochrome and 15,000 tpy ferrosilicon plants in Iran in 1969; UNIDO sponsored assignment.

  • Design and engineering of 80,000 tpy ferromanganese plant of Universal Ferroalloys in Tumsar, Maharashtra, India between 1956 and 1977.

  • Design and engineering of 60,000 tpy ferrosilicon plant of Sandur Manganese Iron Ores Limited at Vyasankere, Karnataka, India between 1963 and 1976.

  • Design and engineering of 25,000 tpy ferrosilicon & 10,000 tpy silicon metal plant of Indian Metals and Ferroalloys, at Therubali, Orissa, India between 1966 & 1979.

  • Design and engineering of 56,000 tpy ferromanganese plant of Maharashtra Elektrosmelt at Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India in 1979; additional 40,000 tpy silicomanganese capacity under installation.

  • Design and engineering of 50,000 tpy high carbon ferrochrome plant of Ferroalloys Corporation at Bhadrak, Orissa, India in 1981.

  • Design and engineering of 50,000 tpy charge chrome plant of Indian Charge Chrome Limited at Choudwar, Orissa in 1985.

  • Design and engineering of 15,000 tpy ferrosilicon plant of Bhutan Ferroalloys Limited at Pasakha in Bhutan in 1991; additional 12,000 tpy ferrosilicon capacity under installation – commissioning in 2006.

  • Preparation of Pre-Feasibility Report for production of 15,000 tpy ferrosilicon at Umm Said, Qatar in 1992.

  • Pre-tendering services to Mitsui, Japan for 80,000 tpy ferroalloy complex of Sabayek Ferroalloys Corporation in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia in 1994.

  • Consultancy services for installation of 120,000 tpy ferrochrome plant of Tata Steel at Richards Bay in South Africa in 2000.
