DASTURCO offers consulting engineering services for steelmaking, secondary metallurgy and continuous casting projects. Over the years, it has gained vast experience in the conceptual planning, design and engineering of steelmaking, secondary metallurgy and continuous casting shops the world over. DASTURCO provides basic engineering, procurement assistance, detailed engineering, project management, construction management and commissioning assistance for the establishment of a number of steelmelting and continuous casting shops including secondary metallurgy units.


DASTURCO’s experience covers all types of electric furnace as well as basic oxygen furnace route of steelmaking. DASTURCO has also engineered all types of secondary metallurgy units and continuous casting plants in both longs and flats.

  • Design and Engineering Services includes:
    • Preparation of specifications .
    • Technical and commercial evaluation of the bids received from equipment suppliers.
    • Assistance to client in preparation of contract documents for placement of orders.
    • Supervision of construction at site.
    • Monitoring of construction by computerised CPM network technique.
    • Project management.
    • Inspection and expediting of equipment.
    • Assistance in commissioning of plant facilities; and
    • Supervision of performance and acceptance tests, etc.

DASTURCO engineers are fully familiar with the different engineering, construction and process metallurgical aspects of steelmaking, secondary metallurgy and continuous casting complexes and are fully equipped to provide the complete range of engineering services from concept to commissioning. The range of services cover greenfield plants, brownfield projects as well as upgradation of existing units. Such services have been provided by DASTURCO for a number of clients in India and abroad.

As the Principal Consultant for the 3 million ton integrated steel plant at Visakhapatnam, India, DASTURCO designed and engineered the LD converter shop, ladle heating furnace and continuous casting complex for production of blooms for rolling into sections, bars and rods.

DASTURCO has provided engineering services for modernisation of steelmaking and continuous casting facilities.

Similar services have been provided by DASTURCO for Sunflag Iron & Steel company, Maharashtra, India, Southern Iron & Steel Company Ltd, Coimbatore, India, Ispat Industries Ltd, India, Steel Authority of India Ltd., Rourkela Steel Plant, Alloy Steel Plant, Durgapur, Jayaswal Neco Ltd, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd etc. During the 1 MTPA expansion work of Tata Steel DASTURCO carried out design and engineering of LD shops by upgradation of slab and billet casters.

DASTURCO has also provided similar comprehensive engineering and consultancy services in this field to clients in Latin America and the Arab World. DASTURCO's engineering services for various clients in Egypt included tender scrutiny, techno-economic evaluation and project monitoring services for their steel plant complex. As the Principal Consultant for the Misurata Steel Complex in Libya, DASTURCO prepared the Feasibility Report and Detailed Project Report and was responsible for the engineering coordination, management of construction and erection, commissioning and start-up as well as assistance in recruitment and training of personnel for the steelmaking and continuous casting projects. DASTURCO has been involved in Design and Engineering of the expansion of steelmelt shop for Misurata Steel Company in Libya and upgradation of steelmelt shop at Qatar Steel.

DASTURCO also provides Techno-economic viability study of plants aimed at turn-around strategy as well as due-diligence studies.
